Our 3rd Annual Fall Supper Exceeds Expectations
On Thursday November 1st, we hosted our 3rd Annual Fall Supper and the event was a smashing success.
The evening started off with Darryl Reid leading over 180 guests in the singing our national anthem followed by a very touching grace recited by West Carleton High School’s Pamela McLeod.
Dinner was especially pleasant for our guests as our First Lady, Mrs. Laureen Harper, spent a few moments at every table sharing in the banter and lively conversation.
As dinner wrapped up, our MP, the Honourable Gordon O’Connor spoke briefly to our guests before introducing our keynote speaker, the Honourable Jim Prentice, our Minister of Industry.
Minister Prentice gave an outstanding speech which had everyone in the crowd hanging on his every word.
Following the speeches, EDA President Steve Liakos presented Minister Prentice with a piece of our local industry embedded in lucite as a token of appreciation for speaking to our members and Vice President Julia Brown and Pamela McLeod presented Mrs. Harper with a gift basket of goodies for the kittens she sponsors which was followed by a beautiful framed photo.
The number of guests this year was up 50% over last year and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We will have photos of the event up on our site in the near future. If you could not make it out to the Supper this year, we hope you can join us next year.
