The June 2007 Newsletter is now available online via the link above. This edition has information on our recent events, messages from our MP and our new President, a list of upcoming events, as well as information on the new cost of our 5 year memberships.
On June 16th, the Briarbrook-Morgan’s Grant Community Association held a Multicultural Festival in North Kanata at W.C. Bowes Park. Hundreds of people passed by to sample the variety of foods from around the world and to take part in the fun and games. Our EDA took part by handing out helium balloons to the children and (as shown in the photo below) we also gave people a chance to write a positive message to send overseas to our troops.
The festival was put together by the BMGCA’s Matt Muirhead. But we share in the pride as Matt is also the Policy Director for our EDA, sitting on our Board of Directors. We would like to congratulate Matt and the BMGCA on a successful event and our EDA is ecstatic that we could join in the fun and play a small part in the overall success.
On a Saturday June 9th, the sun co-operated for our Sunrise Special breakfast. We had a full room at the Superior Restaurant in Almonte for the event. Members and constituents alike came to hear our M.P., the Honourable Gordon O’Connor give a fiery, passionate speech about the state of affairs in our riding and in the federal political scene.
With our scheduled musical guest being unable to make the event, we were lucky enough to have George Turcotte, the son of two of our members bring over his guitars and strum some music in the background for us which was greatly appreciated.
I would have to say my favourite part of the speech was when Gordon said he wouldn’t be quitting, retiring or shuffled. Below is a picture from the event.
