The Policy Committee is pursuing two general areas of activity: the local EDA policies, regulations, by-laws, and Constitution by which the EDA operates; and, preparation for the National Policy Convention in November 2007.

Both of these activities require direction and guidance from the National office. Since the National office has been very busy with the transition to the new government and the beginning of the new Parliament, these policy activities have taken a lower priority. As the situation stabilizes, we expect to proceed with the local policy work, which involves research by the policy directors and approval by the Board of Directors. The preparations for the National convention will begin in earnest in the September timeframe, when we’ll be asking for volunteers from the membership to participate in the various discussion groups for party policies (depending, of course, on the direction from the National office).
