All members of good standing in the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) and resident in the Carleton Mississippi Mills (CMM) Electoral District Association (EDA) boundaries are invited to submit their names or to nominate others of good standing in the CPC and resident in the EDA for election to the 2012/2013 CMMCA BOD. The elections will take place at the CMMCA Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held at the Kanata Legion (Hines Road) on 23 May 2012 at 7 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm and close at 7:15 pm. Bios for candidates can be picked up at 6:30 pm to enable attendees to become acquainted with the candidates.
This is your opportunity to participate in the activities of your Association, to assist your MP and to contribute to the agenda and future of Canada and the CPC.
The objectives of the Association are as follows:
- Support and promote the principles, objectives and policies of the Party and maintain an effective Association for that purpose.
- Provide organizational and financial support to the Party’s candidate in the Carleton Mississippi Mills in accordance with Article 14.3 of the Party Constitution. See http://www.conservative.ca/media/2011-CPC-Constitution-E.pdf.
- Raise money and maintain a fund to support the Association and assist candidates.
- Actively identify potential supporters and recruit new members.
- Encourage the participation and recruitment of youth.
- Comply with the obligations and benefit from the rights and privileges of being recognized by National Council.
- Maintain and enhance the financial viability of our Association to finance elections and enhance the Conservative brand in the riding.
Board Duties and Activities.
- Board members are expected to promote and further the Association objectives as stated above.
- Board members are a central core of volunteers who undertake such duties as attending board meetings, staffing booths at Fall Fairs (4 hour shifts), membership drives, fundraising, mail-outs, committee membership, helping to organize and/or working at one or more of our events, membership data maintenance, and other similar activities.
- CPC policy issues are not discussed at the Board meetings, however, any CPC member can join the Policy working group to discuss policy without being on the BOD.
- Board members are expected to sell a minimum of 2 tickets including their own for Association events as well as assist in the promotion thereof.
The Board consists of an Executive Committee, Ad Hoc Committees and directors-at-large.
The board shall not exceed 30 association members plus the CMM MP who is automatically a member of the Board.
The Executive Committee consists of:
- The President.
- The Vice-President who double-hats as the Membership Committee Chair.
- Secretary.
- Financial Agent.
- Fundraising Committee Chair.
- Communications Chair.
- Events Chair.
The Ad Hoc Committees are:
- Information Committee.
- Policy Committee.
- BOD Nominating Committee.
The Executive Committee must be elected by the incoming BOD at a Board meeting NLT 21 days after the AGM. The Ad Hoc Committees are elected at a subsequent meeting after the election of the Executive Committee. Anyone not on the Executive Committee is expected to sit on at least one of the committees listed above.
Board meetings are held every month as are Executive Committee Meetings. Extra-ordinary meetings are held as required. Meetings generally last one hour unless circumstances dictate otherwise.

- Nominations (self or sponsored) can also be presented at the CMMCA AGM provided that the nominee is both a member in good standing of the CPC and resides in the CMM EDA boundaries.
- If you or your nominee is not a member of the CPC or your membership will have expired 90 days before the date of the Association AGM, that is it will have expired as of 24 February, please refer to the Rights of Membership.
